Millionized With Low Cost…

February 1st, 2007 by Liz

Hi there…

Liz Tomey here from www.MySevenFigures.com with your next my Seven Figures Newsletter, and tonight I want to share even more with you about what John and I are doing on our quest to make 1 million this year. Yes, that’s dollars… :)

In the last newsletter, John told you the steps we took and why you need to take them when getting started. Basically we are starting from scratch. I’m not using my list and he’s not using his list. This way you can see what it takes to start your own 1M business, and do what we call… “Getting Millionized”…

John also gave you a plan that he used to generate $3,500 in just a few hours. Well John just did that same thing again! Another $3500, so that’s $7000 in just a few weeks. If you missed that, you can see what John did by going to mysevenfigures.com/sevenfigureblog/your-first-my-seven-figures-newsletter-from-john-liz

Now that John has told you what we’re doing, and given you his plan that has made him $7000 in just a few weeks, I want to share another one of our plans to “Get Millionized” this year, and it falls under the category of membership sites.

I never paid attention to the power of membership sites until I started talking to a few of my buddies who not only have memberships in the Internet marketing niche, but also in other niche markets.

The key to this is finding a small niche and providing monthly content to that niche for a fair price. Easier said than done I know. So let’s pick this apart and see what you need to do…

1. Find a niche…

John and I picked the private label rights niche because we both know a lot about it, and know there’s a lot of money in it.

Many will tell you to stay out of the Internet marketing niche, but I personally think it’s one of the easiest niches to make money in. It’s the first niche I got into online, and I’ll be real honest with you. If I hadn’t of made money in it, I wouldn’t have gone into any other of the niches that I have. So I recommend you start with something in the Internet marketing/make money niche. It’s competitive, but with the right marketing tactics, you can and will make money and then get the experience you need to go into other niches.

2. Decide what content you’ll provide your members.

John and I thought long and hard about this. We looked at what our competition was doing, did it better and gave more.

You can do the same thing. Say you want to start a membership on list building. Go out and search for list building. See what the other sites are giving. Don’t copy them, but work from ideas you get from them, and add your own style. What can you do to make it better?

Grab a pen and piece of paper and write down what you’ll be giving people each month. Here are some ideas….

Ebooks
Audios
Videos
Software
Special Reports

3. Setup shop

Now once you have your niche, and know what you’re going to give your members each month, it’s time to get to the technical side of things. You’ll need some kind of membership script and a payment processor.

I recommend the Amember script from amember.com and using 2Checkout.com as your payment processor. I am NOT a fan of PayPal, and here’s why: www.JustSayNoToPayPal.com You’ll get the idea there…

Next, you’ll need a sales letter, and I highly recommend John as a copywriter, or you can do your own. Last but not least, you’ll need to setup the inside of your members area.

Step three will probably be your hardest step. If you don’t know how to install scripts, and build websites, this will be your hardest step, however, I do have a really good resource that can help you. My programmer. :) His name is James Marsh, and he’s VERY inexpensive compared to other programmers out there, and can do just about anything you want. See his site at www.RentAWebmaster.ca Once you get to the point of setting up your membership, contact him and tell him what you need done and he’ll work with you to get it done.

4. Deciding what to charge…

Okay, now here’s where the big secret comes in… I have found that charging small prices for a monthly membership works like crazy. Now with the first membership John and I are coming out with, it’s not going to be a small monthly fee because we are offering some stuff that is going to cost us a lot of money, but if you are providing things that don’t cost you a lot, try charging a small price like $9.95.

The reason behind this is…

1. People will feel like they are getting a bargain. Just make sure you give them a lot for this small price, and you’ll have a monthly member who pays you $9.95 a month for the life of your site.

2. When it’s such a small fee like this people sometimes don’t even care, and stay subscribed because it’s not worth the hassle of unsubscribing. That’s terrible, but it’s true. I can think of at least 3 memberships right now that I pay less than $20 a month for that I haven’t logged into for months. Now you shouldn’t use this as a tactic, but it is another good reason to keep your monthly membership fee at a low cost.

5. Now it’s time to promote…

Everything is all setup, and now it’s time to promote, what do you do now? Well, it’s time to do some serious work. When someone comes to me and says…

“I don’t know what to do to promote my site.” I give them the following answer and you’re going to be amazed at how well it works…

1. Go to www.EzineArticles.com
2. Search for: traffic, or website traffic, or web promotion or any other variation
3. Grab a pen and paper
4. Start with the first article you read and try to find at least one tactic that you can use to get traffic to your site.
5. Keep reading and writing down what you learn.
6. Try what you have written down. The ones that work, use them over and over. The ones that don’t scrap them.

This is exactly what I did when I got started. Notice I didn’t say go out and buy this ebook, or this software. I just told you to learn and use what you learn, and that’s really what it’s all about.

So is what John and I have done is built our first membership site in our quest for a 1 million dollar year. The charge will be $97 a month, and we are only excepting 300 members. That will give us $29,000 of our $83,000 monthly income we need to make our goal.

Now you may not be able to do something this big, but you’ve got to start somewhere, so I suggest that you go back up to number 1 above. Pick your niche… Decide what content you’re going to give that niche… Setup your site… Charge $9.95 a month for it… Promote…

With only 100 members, you’re making almost $1000 a month…

Make a goal with your site. Say your goal is to have 300 members at $9.95 a month. That’s really not hard to do. That’s almost $3000 a month. Once you have met that goal, start another membership site, with a new goal of 300 members. Now you have two sites making you almost $6000 a month. You only have to update your sites once a month, so it’s not going to take much work.

So now I’ve shared John and I’s second plan of achieveing our goal this year. Learn from what I’ve just taught you, but more importantly, take action. If you sit and do nothing… NOTHING is all that’s going to happen. Start your adventure with a plan and a goal, and you’ll be unstoppable!

    Hi Liz,

I guess you are one of the few marketers who has actually advised on getting into the internet marketing niche.I do know the niche is very profitable though highly competitive, but most marketers advice against it to keep down the number of players. Thanks for the great content and valuable information!
